Robert Forrest: Tenor
Robert Forrest is a graduate of the National Opera Studio (2024). He completed his BMus(hons) at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, MPerf at the Royal College of Music, Advanced Artist Diploma at the Royal Academy Opera School, and an MPhil in performance studies at the University of Cambridge. While at the Royal Academy Opera School he performed Jupiter in Handel’s Semele, Vaudemont in Tchaikovsky’s Iolanta, 1st Armed Man in Die Zauberflöte and Captain Ricardo in Massenet’s Cherubin.
He made his operatic debut in 2015 as King Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors with the Netherlands Reisopera and has gone on to sing Malcom in Verdi’s Macbeth and cover Lensky in Eugene Onegin (Dorset Opera Festival) and cover Peter Quint in The Turn of the Screw (Garsington Opera). He sang Don Curzio in Le nozze di Figaro, and covered Nemorino in L’elisir d’amore and Don Ottavio in Don Giovanni with New Generation Festival Florence.
As a 2018 Alvarez Young Artist at Garsington Opera, Robert covered Flamand and sang First Servant in Capriccio receiving the 2018 Helen Clarke Award. He made his Wigmore Hall debut in 2020 in a performance celebrating the music of Clara Schumann.
Recent performances include Nanki-Poo (The Mikado, Opera Della Luna), tenor soloist for Scottish Opera’s Highlights Tour 2025, Gherardo (Gianni Schicchi, European Opera Centre) and Rodolfo (La Boheme, Hurn Court Opera). Robert made his Glyndebourne BBC Proms debut as Don Basilio in The Marriage of Figaro in August 2025.
