Kira Kaplan: Soprano

American soprano Kira Kaplan is quickly making her mark on international stages after her tenure as a 2023/2024 Young Artist with the National Opera Studio in London and continued partnership with Scottish Opera as an Emerging Artist.

She was recently hailed as “virtuosic” by The Telegraph for her portrayal of Miss Wordsworth in Scottish Opera’s new production of Albert Herring, directed by Daisy Evans. Additional 2024/2025 season highlights included a world premiere debut with Opera Holland Park and Scottish Opera in their joint performances of Trial by Jury and A Matter of Misconduct, where she starred as the leads of the Plaintiff and Sylvia Lawless. She returned to southeast England weeks later to make her role debut as Donna Anna in Waterperry Opera Festival’s new production of Don Giovanni.

In the 2025/2026 season, Kira made several role debuts with Scottish Opera, including Musetta in La Boheme, and most notably Susanna in their production of The Marriage of Figaro under the direction of Sir Thomas Allan.

Kira is a three time consecutive Region Finalist and District Winner of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Council Auditions, First Place Winner of the Artist Division in the 2022 Camille Coloratura Competition, and proud grant recipient and winner of the prestigious Schuyler Foundation Career Bridges Grant Competition and Awards. Kira made her Wigmore Hall debut in January 2024.
