Elizabeth Rowe: Pianist/Vocal Coach/Répétiteur

Elizabeth Rowe studied music at Birmingham University and piano accompaniment at the Royal Academy of Music under Denis Matthews, Frank Wibaut and John Streets. After gaining a place at the National Opera Studio, sponsored by the Royal Opera House, Elizabeth free-lanced as a répétiteur with Scottish Opera and English Touring Opera before joining the Music Staff at English National Opera.

Since leaving ENO, Elizabeth has worked as a free-lance vocal coach and répétiteur for numerous companies including: The Royal Opera, Oper Frankfurt, Canadian Opera Company, Glyndebourne, Scottish Opera, Opera North, Opera Holland Park, English Touring Opera, Birmingham Opera Company, and British Youth Opera. She has also worked extensively on education and outreach projects for ENO, The Royal Opera, Glyndebourne, English Touring Opera and the Hackney Music Development Trust. 

Elizabeth has been Head of Music for Opera Holland Park and Mid Wales Opera, and Music Director for two Opera Highlights Tours at Scottish Opera. 

A frequent recital accompanist, Elizabeth has performed concerts across the UK and Europe, as well as leading numerous masterclasses. She was pianist and Music Director for an annual festival of song and opera on the Island of Sark.

With an international reputation as a vocal coach in both opera and song, Elizabeth coaches both singers and pianists at many prestigious training organisations. These include: the Jette Parker Artists Programme at the Royal Opera House, The National Opera Studio, Canadian Opera Company’s Young Artist Ensemble, The Danish Royal Opera Academy, the North Sea Vocal Academy and British Youth Opera.

Furthermore, Elizabeth has been Assistant Head of Music for the National Opera Studio, Opera Course Director for Birkbeck University of London, Guest Music Director at the Royal Danish Opera Academy, led masterclasses in Serbia for Operosa the International Opera Training Organisation, and is a resident vocal coach for the Mediterranean Opera Studio.

Elizabeth is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music, and holds several positions at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she works with singers and pianists, postgraduates and fellows, as well as those on the Opera Course.  At the Guildhall she is Senior Vocal Coach, English Language Coach, runs the Répétiteur Course, and has been the Music Director for numerous productions of Opera School Scenes.
